"The afternoon light pokes through the forest canopy, the mossy tree tunks stand strong, dark and grounded. Only a few cedar boughs flounder in the sunlight, held by the darkness that surrounds it and I sink into its arms. It greets me with its usual constraint, but I offer it curiosity, ease and and compassion. I feel its grip loosen, the branches lift with each breath. The darkness never leaves, but I am learning how to love all of it."
